The ideal candidate will have the applicable education and work experience to supervise environmental and historic preservation specialists conducting federal compliance reviews across the spectrum of Historic Preservation or Environmental Planning laws for FEMA disaster recovery projects.Relevant degrees may include but not be limited to Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Historic Preservation, Urban Planning, Wildlife Biology, Archaeology, Geology, Soil Science, Historic Architecture, etc.Serving as the Environmental and Historic Preservation Advisor onsite at FEMA declared disasters.Overseeing environmental & historic preservation compliance reviews for FEMA Public Assistance disaster grants.Leading a team in the delivery of environmental and historic preservation compliance;Reviewing staff environmental compliance determinations with regulations (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, Endangered Species Act, etc.)Coordinating and monitoring work related to Environmental and Historic Preservation at the federal, state, tribal or local level.FEMA offers a transit subsidy for CTA, Amtrak, and Metra but does not cover the cost for gas, parking, airfare, or lodging when reporting to the duty station.
