Work Schedule: 8 Hour Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Overview:
Under the general oversight of an Environmental Services supervisor, the Environmental Services Specialist is responsible for the thorough cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of designated areas within the facility. This role embodies the mission, vision, and values of Rush University Medical Center and adheres to established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute the 10 Step Cleaning Process.
• Vacuum carpeted surfaces.
• Perform dry and wet mopping of hard floor areas.
• Clean and polish metallic surfaces.
• Conduct discharge cleaning as assigned and utilize the Bed Tracking System.
• Spot clean windows and maintain cleanliness of water fountains.
• Sanitize public telephones and restrooms.
• Empty waste receptacles and manage waste disposal.
• Organize and maintain supplies in the designated storage area.
• Clean upholstered furniture and respond to emergency spills and floods.
• Operate floor burnishers and wash walls and ceilings as required.
• Undertake special projects, including hanging drapes and cubicle curtains.
• Maintain and service cleaning equipment, requesting repairs as necessary.
• Report any observed deficiencies in equipment or fixtures.
• Sign in and out pagers, keys, and equipment.
• Clean rolling stock and hospital equipment.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of assigned areas, completing tasks to meet inspection standards.
• Return soiled mops to designated areas.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Must demonstrate proficiency in the operation of cleaning equipment following training.
• Knowledge of proper chemical usage and cleaning techniques is essential.
• Ability to execute the 10 Step Cleaning Process and isolation cleaning as required.
• Familiarity with the Bed Tracking System is necessary.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a neat personal appearance are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• High school diploma or G.E.D. with the ability to comprehend written English and oral instructions.
• Previous cleaning experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
• Frequent standing, walking, and stooping are necessary while performing duties.
• Ability to push, pull, and manage cleaning equipment and materials weighing up to 150 pounds.
