The following duties are required of the position; they include, but are not limited to:


The practice of each registered nurse is based on knowledge, experience and research and has a direct impact on patient outcomes in the assigned area and for the facility.

:

Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components

Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.

Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.

The registered nurse is directly responsible to the Chief, Medical Service, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse Veteran patient population.

The registered nurse possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspect of the nursing process with a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.

The Registered Nurse will be the liaison for Veterans accessing cancer care and navigating health care systems.
