As a Program Analyst , your typical work assignments may include:
  • Serves as an authority on administrative management matters for the Intelligence Division (NC).
  • Provides expert guidance concerning the Intelligence Program's recruitment and hiring initiatives.
  • Serves as liaison with the Human Resources Division (HR).
  • Provides expert analysis and evaluations to management that encompasses programmatic milestones, schedules, and staffing resource planning for effective management, operations, and decision making in support of a project/program or functional area.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with HR regarding the selection and hiring of applicants, the appropriate appointment authority to use, and grade level to be offered. Coordinates with Intelligence hiring staff to fill and schedule newly selected Intelligence Research Specialist for Basic Intelligence Research Specialist (BIRS) training classes.
  • Initiates a wide variety of personnel actions for employees assigned to the Intelligence Division. Coordinates with appropriate office contacts to correct and resolve issues.
  • Recommends, develops, and implements plans for disseminating routine information related to Intelligence Program staffing and recruitment.
  • Manages NC's Table of Organization, as well as tracks all Intelligence Program positions DEA-Wide. Develops proposals to merge or establish new organizational units within an existing organization for the purpose of improving workforce distribution, position management structures, effectiveness, or productivity.
  • Manages NC's performance management program which includes revising performance work plans for Intelligence Program positions. Provides advice and guidance to management on changes to DEA's performance management program.
  • Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact NCM. Performs quick reaction studies, analysis and professional writing for the Section Chief. Provides rapid, incisive, executive level analysis and support to respond to requests for independent perspective.
  • Develops correspondence that communicates the intent on key issues regarding NCM's mission and operations, to DEA and HR Leadership.

      Qualifications

      Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts with your application.

      You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

      GS-12: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing the following duties: collecting and disseminating program information, developing long-range management plans, and collecting information and making recommendations concerning programs.

      GS-13: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing the following duties: performing long-range planning and analysis, setting priorities, evaluating and recommending changes and improvements for efficiency and productivity of programs, and presenting findings and recommendations on complex issues or problems.
