As one of the four original colleges at Texas Tech University at its founding in 1925, the College of Human Sciences (COHS) has a rich history of investing in students, preparing them to impact the world around them. About the Department/School/Area
The mission of the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences is to promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and relationships across the life span through research, teaching, service and community outreach and engagement. Our Department offers a wide range of courses in the areas of early childhood, human development across the life span, interpersonal relationships, and family science. We have over 500 undergraduate majors and offer core course to students across the university. Graduates of the department become qualified to pursue a variety of careers in education, human services, health, advocacy and business, and/or pursue graduate studies. Instructors in HDFS are supported by an array of departments at Texas Tech: Teaching Learning and Professional Development Center, Texas Tech Worldwide eLearning, Center for Transformative Undergraduate Experiences, University Writing Center, TTU Library, Technology Services, and College of Health and Human Sciences Advising.
Major/Essential Functions
The instructor will:
Contribute to the university's mission through undergraduate teaching.
Teach undergraduate courses for the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. Classes may be offered through face-to-face or online modalities, and the point of duty will be in Lubbock, TX. Course topics may could include but are not limited to: family dynamics and relationships (e.g., family communication, parenting) and human development across the lifespan (e.g., lifespan human development, adolescence).

Faculty Qualifications
A master's degree in HDFS or a closely related field (marriage and family therapy, psychology, sociology) is required and a doctoral degree in HDFS or a closely related field is preferred. Effective teaching ability demonstrated at the university level. This position will be classified as Security Sensitive and requires a criminal background check if selected for employment.
