Multifaith Program Manager

SUMMARY:

The Multifaith Program Manager is an integral member of the Office of the Chaplaincy team. The manager performs a wide variety of duties for the Chaplaincy in the areas of programming, student support, travel and coursework assistance, data entry and management, and other duties as assigned. The position is responsible for program and content development for new multifaith events, logistical coordination of existing Jewish Life, Muslim Life, Spiritual Life, and multifaith events, and contributes to the implementation of signature Chaplaincy programs. Reporting to the Jewish Chaplain and Director of Religious Life, the Multifaith Program Manager helps implement meaningful religious, spiritual, cultural and intellectual programming that allows students to deepen their own beliefs and commitments and learn from those of others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programming


• Plans, schedules, and coordinates logistics for all ongoing Jewish Life, Muslim Life, and Spiritual Life programs.


• Develops, plans, and coordinates new multifaith programming to engage students of many beliefs and backgrounds.


• Plans special events, including coordination of location, catering, registration, and tasks needed on the day of the event.


• Helps to staff night and weekend programming such as Shabbat or Iftar meals, organizes and staffs travel to local synogogues, mosques, and other religious or cultural locations.


• Staffs, organizes, and co-leads immersive experiences such retreats, alternate breaks, and domestic and international pilgrimages.


• Solicits speakers and guests for Chaplaincy programs and manages all associated logistics.


• Advises and works to support student religious organizations such as the Hindu Students Association and other emerging student religious communities at UR.


• Teaches one section of Well 100 each semester.

Administrative


• Assists with data entry, roster management, and tracking of student involvement.


• Contributes to assessment of student programs.


• Prepares and disseminates program and course materials as needed.


• Assists with planning, scheduling, and coordinating logistics for classes and meetings.


• Assists Campus Ministries with room reservations, food waivers, and travel requests.


• Assists with arranging logistics for off-campus trips, overnight trips, and domestic/international travel.


• Arranges logistics with venue (dates/times/costs or fees).


• Arranges transportation.


• Ensures compliances with University policies governing off-campus travel for offices and student groups.


• For international travel, arranges for completion of proper forms with International Education.

Communications and Marketing


• Assists in representing Jewish Life, Muslim Life, Spiritual Life, the Chaplaincy and the University on and off campus.


• Oversees communications for specific programs to include regular posts to social media accounts, sending of weekly emails, and periodic newsletters.


• Updates, maintains, and provides content for Jewish Life, Muslim Life, Spiritual Life, and Multifaith website, including the communication of Chaplaincy policies concerning religious life.


• Helps to update University's religious observance calendar and promotes awareness of religious observance policies and opportunities through SpiderBytes and other University channels.


• Provides information to prospective students and families by responding to inquiries about Jewish Life, Muslim Life, Spiritual Life, Multifaith events, and other Chaplaincy programming.


• Maintains email lists of current students and campus partners.


• Represents the Chaplaincy on committees within Student Development and across campus as appropriate.


• Collaborates as necessary with campus partners such as Center for Student Involvement, Student Center for Equity and Inclusion, and International Education to advance Chaplaincy and wider University priorities.

Other


• Represents the Chaplaincy on committees within Student Development and across campus as appropriate.


• Represents the Chaplaincy at resource fairs such as for prospective and admitted students and during fall orientation.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Knowledge of different religious traditions, including various beliefs and practices within major global faith traditions


• Detailed oriented and excellent organizational skills


• Understands the fundamentals of event and program planning


• Student-centered approach to work and strong ability to work with a wide range of constituencies of diverse backgrounds


• Ability to work independently


• Collaborate, co-create, and build partnerships with offices and students


• Strong oral and written communication skills


• Exceptional customer service skills


• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines


• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel


• Knowledge of and ability to use audiovisual equipment is helpful


• Use of standard office equipment such as postage meter, copier, scanner, etc.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


• Bachelor's degree


• Minimum of 2 years work experience in event or programming planning and implementation is required


• Experience working with student leaders or programming boards is strongly preferred


• Experience working with religious communities is strongly preffered


• Experience hosting or leading Jewish and/or Muslim programming or multifaith events is preferred


• Knowledge of a wide range of religious traditions is preferred

WORK HOURS:

Full-time, exempt position

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; requires occasional evening and weekend work

SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range $39,083.00 to $51,792.00 annually)
