As a Quality Control Specialist, you will be a part of a team that performs a variety of laboratory activities and analyses to support the manufacture, maintenance, improvement and understanding of our products and processes. The ideal candidate will participate and contribute to a fast-paced technically-focused team and ideally has plate ELISA or dairy SNAP experience. You will execute routine and non-routine efficacy analysis of raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods on a variety of diagnostic platforms while also generating documents and analyzing data. A QC Specialist also prepares solutions and reagents as required, communicates and presents to peers and managers within and across various lines of business.

The IDEXX Livestock, Poultry, and Dairy division offers diagnostic tests and services to monitor the health of herd and flock animals worldwide. We partner with state, government, and private laboratories to provide producers (farmers) with results that protect human health, improve animal productivity, and ensure food quality.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

May perform one or more of the following:

  • Generates, analyzes, documents and reports on data.
  • Prepare reagents and perform testing to qualify materials for use in manufacturing
  • Identifies, evaluates and implements system, process or procedure improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzes, develops and implements process changes to provide improvement in work flow, operational procedures and other related business areas.
  • Participates in projects to implement initiatives; identifies project opportunities; generates ideas and solutions.
  • Communicates with teammates and representatives from related functional areas to coordinate work.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with experience in a laboratory setting

Physical Demands

  • Extensive use of computer and paper documentation to record/report results
  • Capable of working in a production lab environment - sitting or standing continuously 2 or more hours at a time.
  • Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to manipulate parts for testing.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • May be required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing acuity sufficient to effectively communicate with customers and Employees via telephone and in person.
  • Ability to communicate verbally on phone and in person.
  • Fluency in the English language.
  • Extended hours may be required.

Work Environment

  • General office environment or light laboratory/industrial, with some areas to assemble equipment, decontaminate potential biohazards and bench repair instruments.
  • Normal office noise level, with occasional moderate noise.
