Job Title:Veterinary Assistant 1 Radiology - IRPDepartment:Veterinary Medical Center | Operations

The College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medical Center seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join the Radiology team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the provision of care to ill and injured animals as wells a providing assistance to clinicians, staff and professional students in the days to day operations of the Veterinary Medical Center. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting the staff in obtaining radiographs; Maintains cleanliness of work area; assisting with patient assessment, restraint and treatments; assisting with training student employees in prescribed care of animals; comforting and caring for hospitalized animal patients; walking patients and providing clean housing, food, and water at all times; transporting patients within the Veterinary Medical Center; stocking supplies including feed, medical supplies and equipment; cleaning and disinfecting treatment areas, animals housing units, adjacent areas and supporting equipment following prescribed sanitation procedures and observing rules of epidemiology to prevent spread of disease; cleaning of all animal areas including windows, floors, light covers, ledges, hallways, vents, receiving rooms etc.; notifying supervisor of need for non-routine repairs; assisting with laundry; providing clerical support when necessary; and other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Standing for long periods of time; Pushing/pulling/lifting up to 75 pounds; Exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases; Exposure to needle sticks, hazardous chemicals, and/or bio hazardous waste
