Orion Group is seeking a detailed and results-driven Scientist to work with our premiere global pharmaceutical manufacturing client in South San Francisco, CA.

This position is responsible for formulating liquid and lyophilized protein therapeutics, preparing formulation and assay buffers, as well as containers and closures to support pharmaceutical development studies.

The individual will learn analytical assays, protein formulation characterization techniques and stability testing. He or she will be responsible for analysing data, interpreting results and noting significant deviations.


Additional responsibilities include maintaining oversight of day-to-day laboratory activities, managing inventory of raw materials and drug product packaging, as well as documenting and retrieving scientific data in electronic lab notebook.


EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in protein biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, analytical science, pharmaceutical science, physical chemistry, chemical engineering or a related field with 1-2 years of analytical or drug formulation development experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • The candidate should have technical skills to be able to conduct experiments in research or development lab; prior experience in development of protein formulations and stability assessment is preferred.
  • The candidate should also have strong communication, documentation and report writing skills.
  • Candidate must be highly organized and detail-oriented.

Years of experience/education and/or certifications required: BS degree with 1-2 years' experience
