Position Overview

Vicinitas Therapeutics is a pioneering biotechnology firm dedicated to the advancement of targeted protein stabilizers, specifically Deubiquitinase Targeting Chimeras (DUBTACs). The Chemical Biology division plays a crucial role in the identification and development of DUBTACs through the implementation of state-of-the-art mass spectrometry (MS) platforms. We are currently seeking a Mass Spectrometry Scientist to manage existing platforms and innovate new methodologies to facilitate the identification and validation of DUB recruiters and DUBTACs. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, inquisitive, and adaptable team member who thrives on problem-solving and working closely with colleagues to advance our research goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct cell-based screening experiments for proteomics investigations.
  • Plan and implement MS-based experiments aimed at elucidating the mechanism of action (MOA) of DUBTACs.
  • Collaborate with junior scientists within the Chemical Biology team, providing mentorship in the conceptualization and execution of mass spectrometry experiments.
  • Engage with data analysis, protein sciences, and medicinal chemistry teams to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 2-8 years of experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry instruments and techniques in proteomics analysis, with a strong background in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment, preferably on ThermoFisher or Bruker platforms.
  • Proven ability to utilize and implement various software tools for MS data analysis, with experience in developing automated pipelines for data processing being advantageous.
  • Experience in creating custom methodologies for sample preparation and MS analysis to meet project objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrating leadership by example and the ability to adapt to dynamic conditions to consistently achieve scientific goals.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected Salary Range: Scientist I $120,000-$130,000 / Scientist II $130,000-$145,000. (Compensation and leveling will be commensurate with experience and expertise and could fall outside of the stated range)
