Position Purpose
The Energy Aware Computing (EnyAC) group is seeking a full-time (40 hours) Research Associate to work on a project related to hardware-aware machine learning and machine learning-hardware co-design, focusing on efficient deep learning and associated machine learning and systems approaches. The EnyAC research group develops tools and methods for energy and resource aware computing encompassing the entire system stack, from algorithms and applications to system and hardware architecture. Since its inception in 2000, the EnyAC research group has worked on novel computing paradigms and tools for energy, variability and reliability aware computing, all aiming for sustainable computing and computing for sustainability. Currently, the focus of EnyAC research group is on energy aware machine learning, hardware-machine learning model co-design, and hardware efficient data intensive applications.
Responsibilities
- Write papers and proposals with supervising faculty
- Prepare papers and grant proposals on their own
- Co-manage the research group of supervising faculty
- Collaborate with research group members on delivering results according to established schedule
- Doctoral degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Prior experience in hardware-aware or hardware-efficient machine learning.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively, excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- Doctoral and postdoctoral research in efficient deep learning at the intersection of machine learning and systems.
- Four-year postdoctoral research experience.
- Prior experience with managing a medium sized research group (5-10 members).
- Prior experience with proposal grant writing resulting in successful funding.
- Existing publication record in top venues in the field.
- Industry experience is a plus.
$70,560 + depending on qualifications
