a. Coordinates contingency plans during equipment downtimes and initiates repair requests with appropriate services or vendors
b. Provides oversight of hardware relating to PACS display workstations, applications, speech recognition hardware, and other medical imaging hardware
c.

Provides training to radiologists, technologists, and other clients in the proper and efficient use of imaging hardware and software of the integrated PACS and VistA imaging systems.

d.

Provides instruction and guidance in daily operations of the ancillary systems such as:
speech recognition dictation, dose reporting systems, contrast reporting systems, etc.
e. Provides feedback to the Chief and Asst Chief Technologist regarding poor image quality or radiation risks brought on by technologists
f. Researches and analyzes problems, issues or program requirements supporting the functions of digital imaging systems. Determines the pertinent issues and collects relevant information from a variety of sources. Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques. Develops recommendations and proposals.
g. Aids in the maintenance of the VISN PACS servers stationed at Portland VA Health Care System.
h. Works with vendors, PACS Administrator and servicing personnel to troubleshoot problems with hardware and software. Assists in scheduling downtime and/or implements workflow changes until the problem is resolved. Coordinates with supervisory staff and PACS Administrator to ensure minimal impact on operations.
i.

Coordinates activities with VISTA imaging manager, Biomedical personnel assigned to Radiology, Vista Imaging users and support personnel on computer related matters to ensure all issues are adequately addressed and interface activities are conducted as effectively as possible.

Courteously interacts with medical staff, and other professionals daily, projecting a professional and helpful attitude, in person or by telephone, dealing with problem solving and quality issues.

k. Provides training to Radiologists and Technologists in proper and efficient use of imaging hardware and software
Performs irregular hour emergency rotating on call, 24 hours per day, seven days a week, including holiday coverage

Incumbent shall conform to all VHA and local directives related to safety, life safety, health, hazardous materials and emergency management directives.
