About the Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois is home to >120 faculty, 39 Pediatric Residents, 16 Med/Peds Residents, 14 Fellows, and a growing, nationally ranked pediatric research program. Each year, our faculty receive more than $10 million in research grants. The Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois scored in > 6 specialties for three years in the US News and World Report Survey. The Partnership for Pediatric Care encompassing the inpatient units at Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois (CHUI) and Cook County Health includes more than 110 beds (16 pediatric intensive care, 24 step-down, and 70 neonatal intensive care unit). Designations include Level III NICU, PCCC (critical care), EDAP (emergency room), and Burn and Trauma (CCH). The Partnership for Pediatric Care provides convenient access to outpatient services at more than 30 locations including Mile Square Federally Qualified Health Centers and Cook County Health clinics. Each year, the Partnership for Pediatric Care serves more than 100,000 children with nearly 230,000 visits. About the Section of Hematology and Oncology
The Section of Hematology-Oncology provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to children and adolescents with cancer, leukemia, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood disorders we are part of the Children's Oncology Group and have a partnership with the University of Illinois Cancer Center. As a member of the UIC Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, we provide complete diagnostics, treatment, counseling, and support services for families with sickle cell disease and related blood disorders. The Pediatric Cancer Center offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for children and adolescents living with cancer and leukemia. The Long-Term Survivors of Childhood Cancer Clinic ensures patients continue to thrive with thorough screening and management of chronic health conditions that commonly arise in these survivors. The clinic also provides cancer researchers and health providers with valuable data to aid future patients. The Sickle Cell Program is home to the largest state and federally funded program for sickle cell through the lifespan in Illinois, including specific funding for an innovative adolescent transition program. CHUI's multi-disciplinary teams provide comprehensive treatment, counseling and support services for individuals suffering with the disease and their families, plus extensive community outreach. Innovative research at UIC led to the first successful stem cell treatment for sickle cell in Chicago area that eliminates chemotherapy. Ongoing clinical trials continue to prove the treatment's efficacy and bring real hope for a cure.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking an Open Rank Faculty (Section Chief, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology) to join our team. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.

Primary responsibility is in leadership, clinical care service, teaching, scholarly activity, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Section Chief will provide leadership and strategic direction for the clinical, research, and academic activities of a section of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

In partnership with the Head of the Department, develop a comprehensive strategy and plan for the growth and development of the section's clinical and translational research programs, including new therapeutics.Engage and partner with affiliated hospital programs- Cook County Health and Shriners Hospital for Children Chicago. Develop strong relationships with the UIC Sickle Cell Center and UI Cancer Center.In partnership with the department's Director of Administrative Operations manage and oversee the Administrative, Finance, Research, and Clinical operations for the section.Promote and support the development of multidisciplinary services with the section.Develop section's faculty with emphasis on quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.Qualifications:MD or EquivalentSuccessful completion of Pediatrics Residency ProgramUnrestricted Illinois Medical LicensureBC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Minimum of two years' experience in an administrative position. Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to complement and expand a very strong basic science and/or clinical translational program.
