Job SummaryThe College of Arts and Sciences at North Park University is seeking a full-time tenure-track Professor of Mechanical Engineering to begin in August 2024. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the Mechanical Engineering program and teach engineering courses based on their qualifications and expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Teach 24 semester hours per year in engineering courses
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students
- Implement a scholarly agenda
- Participate in university-wide service
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Commitment to undergraduate education that focuses on relationships with industry
- Evidence of a professional practice of engineering
- Possess a clear understanding of and personal commitment to North Park University's mission of Christian higher education
- Have good attention to detail and possess excellent organizational and planning skills
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer
- Experience in the areas of product design, fabrication, electronics, and systems control
- Demonstrable fabrication skills set using machine shop tools and knowledge of associated safety protocols
- Experience teaching other courses in the general mechanical engineering curriculum
- Active participation in industry organizations and scientific communities
- Ability to work independently and with others, and to be proactive
