General Summary:

  • Reports to the Manager and is responsible primarily for supporting the operating room/clinical staff—physicians, nursing, critical care technicians, and operating room assistants—by ensuring that surgical equipment is cleaned, maintained, fully operational, transported to OR when necessary and available for use in the operating rooms adequately before the start of cases. Provides prompt, courteous, customer service and support to clinical staff, including but not limited to the dependable diagnosis of equipment failures and malfunctions and fiberoptic/video support for the hospital's intubation program (within and outside the operating rooms). Answer Equipment Services jabber phones and respond to clinical staff inquiries. Communicate major equipment failures to Clinical Engineering and/or external vendor via email. This work is performed under general supervision of the Perioperative Team Leader and/or Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Work requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of two years of college or technical school with emphasis in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Surgical Technology, or Anesthesia Technology, preferred.
  • Requires a minimum five years of experience as a highly proficient Perioperative Equipment Specialist.
