Tax is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's worldwide taxes. We are responsible for tax compliance, financial reporting of taxes, tax planning, business advisory and management of taxing authority examinations. OUR IMPACT

Tax Embedded Risk Management (ERM) is a team of Embedded Risk Managers (ERMs) that closely partner with Tax leadership and line managers to continuously measure and assess levels of risk for existing and new processes within the division. The ERMs utilize the components of the Risk Management Framework in order to improve consistency of risk measurement and risk assessment practices across the Tax Division. The team provides the division's 24/7 coverage across the regions and functions. The role includes leveraging key contacts in the division, managing senior leadership conversations and driving risk meetings on a weekly basis, facilitating the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, performing targeted risk assessments as well as using personal initiative to ensure appropriate judgement in both planning, project and event management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an individual that exudes energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm to join the global ERM team within Tax. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Partner with colleagues across divisions around the globe, while contributing to and managing various OR driven programs Managing risk within global Tax division
  • Represent Tax embedded risk management on forums to ensure accurate reflection of our functions, controls and frameworks.
  • Be proactive risk managers such as probing when incidents occur and assessing the risks the teams are running by truly embedding in the businesses. Conduct risk reviews on areas with particular concern and make recommendations/suggestions to socialize and close and risk and control gaps.
  • Challenge the status quo - challenge the risk and control framework to further enhance the control environment.
  • Partner with the business units to understand the residual risks that exist after issues are identified and resolved. Engaging with Technology and cross asset teams to achieve this.
  • Risk Analysis - work with the team and other regional/functional Tax groups to identify key risk metrics (e.g. via KRI's) and highlighting areas of concerns, working with line managers on remediation efforts. Driving the agenda and conversations in risk meetings.
  • Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) - work with line managers in ensuring the RCSA risk and control templates reflect the current risk environment and vet through RCSA issues raised to ensure proper remediation is in place.
  • Review and analyze data, generate metrics, and help with ad hoc projects leveraging data analytics Identify and drive initiatives that improve the risk and resilience management activities for the firm

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires an energetic self-starter that can liaise with various Tax & other Control& Finance teams both regionally and globally. We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral - you are able to grasp technical concepts and communicate such concepts to various audiences
  • Attention to detail and proven technical skills with desire to learn more
  • Self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability of projects, has strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities for wide-ranging programs
  • Bachelors / Undergraduate Degree
  • Professional work experience, with previous experience in Tax, the Financial Services industry, Project Management or Management Consulting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint

  • Understands and appropriately addresses Goldman Sachs compliance and reputational judgment issues

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $115000-$ In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
