A&H - Underwriting Product Analyst

How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The Underwriting Product Analyst position will participate in ensuring product fulfilment and compliance for the Accident and Health Division.

The person in this position will work closely with internal and external team members while effectively prioritizing and delivering on product and forms requirements for multiple MGU/MGA projects managed by the applicable A&H team.


What will you do in this role?
Develop and maintain product plan designs to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving A&H marketplace.

Primary areas of expertise include participant accident, student accident, intercollegiate sports, business travel accident, leisure travel, and supplemental medical plans.


  • Work closely with the Product Development department to develop and file new and amended products and policy forms and with the Compliance department to ensure that all such products and forms are regulatorily compliant.
  • Deliver all MGU/MGA forms required to fulfill delegated authority for our partnerships. Forms include applications, proposals, certificates, policies, core amendments, statutory amendments, notices, disclosures, and brochures (where needed).
  • Design, develop, and deliver product forms fulfillment instructions, product authority documentation, and version control documentation related to product deliveries.
  • Maintain A&H document production applications via template management procedures.
  • Respond to underwriting questions relative to state and product compliance.
  • Determine appropriate company action based on review of bureau circulars and communications from departments of insurance.
  • Lead product-related meetings with each MGU/MGA, communicate and deliver AXIS changes to forms, and document outcomes.


You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have:

  • Robust writing skills.
  • Strong project managements skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Third Party Administrators, internal support units, and senior/executive management.
  • Desired 5+ years' experience in the Accident & Health industry as an Underwriter or equivalent insurance experience.

What we prefer you to have:

  • A four-year or advanced degree from an accredited university.
  • Previous underwriting or product experience.
  • Knowledge of Accident & Health insurance contracts and/or contractual law.

Role Factors:
In this role, you will typically be required to:

  • Embrace the hybrid culture offered at AXIS, you need to typically be in office 3 days per week.
  • Much of the work involves using computers for data entry, analysis, and communication. Comfort with prolonged screen time is necessary.
  • Travel 5-10% of the time including overnight stays.

What we offer:
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of 95k-120k.

Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
