Position Overview
The Cyber Lines Underwriting Manager will lead, mentor, and coach a team of Underwriters specializing in Cyber and Technology Liability. This role is pivotal in driving growth and profitability through effective marketing, underwriting, and management of the Cyber/Technology Liability product underwriters. Key responsibilities include budget management, risk evaluation, and broker relationship management for the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Provides formal guidance, mentorship, and coaching to underwriters in both technical and professional competencies. Oversees talent processes, including selection, development, and performance evaluation, while making compensation recommendations for team members.
  • Service Value Proposition: Clearly articulates the specialized services offered to Cyber/Technology liability clients and differentiates them from competitors.
  • Documenting Transactions: Maintains thorough documentation that reflects sound decision-making and comprehensive account reviews, including necessary sign-offs and referrals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engages actively in continuous improvement initiatives by participating in daily meetings, generating actionable suggestions, adhering to established procedures, and utilizing improvement tools to enhance team performance.
  • Marketing Strategy: Aids in the formulation of marketing strategies, product evaluations, service offerings, geographic focus, and broker intelligence. Develops and nurtures broker relationships to facilitate the marketing of Cyber and Technology Liability products.
  • Effective Communication: Collaborates with other product line underwriters, managers, and claims analysts to ensure comprehensive customer service delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible production underwriting roles.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Advanced understanding of underwriting principles, practices, and techniques, including coverage issues, product lines, marketing strategies, and competitive analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cyber and Technology Liability products is essential.
  • Ability to effectively engage with brokers and internal teams is crucial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Proficient negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills are also necessary.
