Position Overview
The Cyber Lines Underwriting Manager will lead, mentor, and coach a team of Underwriters specializing in Cyber and Technology Liability. This role is pivotal in driving growth and profitability through effective marketing, underwriting, and management of the Cyber/Technology Liability product underwriters. Responsibilities include overseeing budget management, marketing strategies, risk evaluation, and broker relationships for the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Provides formal guidance, mentorship, and coaching to underwriters in both technical and professional competencies. Oversees talent processes including recruitment, development, and performance evaluation, while making compensation recommendations for team members.
  • Service Value Proposition: Articulates the specialized services offered to Cyber/Technology liability clients and differentiates them from competitors.
  • Documentation: Ensures thorough documentation of files that reflect a sound decision-making process through comprehensive account evaluations, approvals, and referrals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engages in ongoing improvement initiatives by participating in daily meetings, generating suggestions, adhering to established procedures, and utilizing continuous improvement tools to enhance team performance.
  • Marketing: Aids in the formulation of marketing strategies, product assessments, service offerings, geographic targeting, and broker insights. Develops and nurtures broker relationships to facilitate the marketing of Cyber and Technology Liability products.
  • Effective Communication: Collaborates with other product line underwriters, managers, and claims analysts to deliver comprehensive customer service.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible production underwriting roles.
  • 1-2 years of prior management or supervisory experience is required.
  • Advanced understanding of underwriting principles, practices, procedures, and techniques, including coverage issues, product lines, marketing strategies, technology, and competitive landscape.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cyber and Technology Liability products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with brokers and internal teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficient negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills are essential.
