Off-Ice Officials record statistics, manage game administration, and ensure compliance with American Hockey League rules and regulations for Iowa Wild pre-season, regular season and playoff games played at Wells Fargo Arena.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Managing the game's timing from one stoppage to another, resetting the clock when needed, and ensuring its proper functioning.
  • Monitoring the duration of breaks and both official and commercial timeouts.
  • Tracking and timing penalties issued by the Referees, making sure they are accurately recorded in AHL records, and ensuring players are released from the penalty box at the correct time.
  • Assisting Referees in determining on-ice team strength during multiple penalties.
  • Managing commercial timeouts according to league guidelines and communicating with broadcasters, On-Ice Officials, and fellow Off-Ice Officials about upcoming and completed commercial timeouts.
  • Reviewing all scoring plays on video to ensure accuracy.
  • Accurately interpreting game events and recording them in the League scoring system.
  • Making instant decisions regarding hits, shots, missed shots, blocked shots, giveaways, takeaways, goals, assists, penalties, and other important game occurrences.
  • Reviewing all close plays near the net and effectively communicating with the technician, On-Ice Officials, and the NHL Situation Room to accurately determine the legitimacy of goals and potential goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Positions Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of all AHL requirements as it pertains to Off-Ice Officials job duties, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Leaguestat.
  • Excellent understanding of the playing rules, bylaws, and scoring pertinent to the AHL, including current understanding of AHL scoring and statistics.

Work Conditions

  • Must be able to work up to 50% of home Iowa Wild games.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays for games.
