What We Are Seeking:
The Iowa Department of Public Defense is in search of a Military Base Security Specialist to support the state's defense operations.
About Us:
Our agency plays a crucial role in bolstering the Iowa National Guard's readiness and modernization efforts, ensuring they can effectively respond to community needs and emergencies. Our strength lies in our diverse and skilled workforce, providing a solid foundation for a rewarding career.
Work Schedule: 132nd Air Wing, Iowa Air National Guard, working hours will be from 10 P.M. to 6 A.M.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will engage in law enforcement duties, security operations, and armed patrols to safeguard individuals, structures, facilities, and equipment on an Air National Guard installation. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Requirements:
Applicants must possess a valid state-issued driver's license and successfully pass a federal background investigation to obtain and retain a Department of Defense Common Access Card.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D., along with two years of full-time experience in military police, military security, or civilian law enforcement roles;
OR
High school diploma or G.E.D., completion of military security police technical training, and six months of participation in Unit Training Assembly (UTA).
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain appropriate security clearance and possess a military and state driver's license.
- Must qualify to carry firearms per military regulations and meet physical requirements within six months of employment.
- Successful candidates will undergo a thorough background check and must complete a comprehensive training program within one year, including certification in CPR and First Responder training.
