Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.


Busch Vacuum Solutions has a direct-hire opportunity for a Medium High Vacuum Business Development Manager This position is up to 75% travel, predominately within the region.


The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for developing new business and new business opportunities in assigned market segments and/or geographical territories.

As segment champion, the BDM is focused on developing value-based solutions by working closely with targeted segment accounts to fully identify segment needs.

The BDM works to assess and analyze the gaps between those segment needs and existing business capabilities, developing a plan to close the gaps based on their ranking and prioritization.

To best manage plan priorities, the BDM must be able to objectively observe and accurately anticipate the needs and initiatives of the targeted segments.

Additional responsibilities include management of all sales activities within the assigned market segment and/or geographical territory.

The position is responsible for developing and delivering annual sales growth of Busch products and services in compliance with the strategic plan.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct market studies and situational analysis to identify customer types, market needs, roadblocks, competition, pricing, and global position
  • Develop a mutually beneficial business partnership with each target that is focused on providing a valuebased solution that addresses their specific need(s)
  • Work with the target account(s) to better understand the capabilities required to support the solution, identifying the gaps in the business between the met and unmet needs of the segment
  • Manage a gap analysis process to rank and prioritize the gaps, with proper documentation and financials (cost, benefit, risk, timing, etc.)
  • Working with Project Management, champion a crossfunctional project team that is tasked with closing the gaps
  • Develop the Marketing & Sales Strategy for the targeted market including necessary sales tools, product documentation, pricing, and promotion strategy
  • Manages an assigned sales territory to maintain existing business levels, develop new business for products and service(s), and provide for annual sales growth of Busch products & service(s)
  • Works with all internal departments in support of sales opportunities
  • Develops longterm relationships with the end user and OEM accounts individually, and in support of the sales channel(s)
  • Maintains account profiles for specified Top Tier accounts
  • Maintains a CRM database
  • Develops a yearly target account list for the assigned sales territory
Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree: Required, Field of Study: Engineering or related degree: Preferred
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, prior experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management): Preferred
  • Certifications & Licenses: Must maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment
Personal Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven experience in sales of rotating equipment pumps, vacuum pumps, blowers, and related systems
  • Relevant market experience and expertise related to the medium high vacuum field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or related vacuum equipment sales experience
  • Strong understanding of vacuum industry markets, customers, products, dynamics, competition, and influential players
  • Analytical and financial justification knowledge and skills
  • Proven ability to influence others and execute a plan
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical/mechanical concepts and good mechanical aptitude
  • Detail, safety and customeroriented
  • Good decisionmaking and problemsolving abilities
  • Good work values, ethics, and integrity, and the ability to influence your team to demonstrate the same
Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10panel drug screen, 7year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a casebycase basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and manually manipulating
  • Occasional reaching above the shoulder or outward, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 20lbs
