Position Summary:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and reporting of the company and related entities. This role involves managing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, preparing financial statements, and implementing financial controls. Additionally, the Controller will play a key role in the financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), ensuring seamless integration and financial alignment of acquired entities. The Controller will work closely with the executive team to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

To be successful as a Controller, you should have a solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding Controller should also possess strong accounting software skills, be detail-orientated, highly organized, technically adept and able to work with little or no supervision under pressure.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software (Quickbooks, SAP. SQL, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Able to build constructive, collaborative, and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners at all levels to drive others to action and carry out management strategies.
  • Demonstrate an ability to set objectives and goals, organize work appropriately, and adapt to changing priorities to meet and exceed goals.
  • Highly organized, must be able to effectively manage multiple projects with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Leadership ability to coordinate across multiple departments to see through full completion and resolution of items.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret advanced themes from quantitative and qualitative data to identify and understand trends, aid decision making and problem solving, and drive results and change.
  • Experience in a service industry and involvement in M&A transactions is highly desirable.

  • Oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP or relevant accounting standards.
  • Manage cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits and work with external auditors as necessary. Coordinate and manage all tax return compliance along with tax partners.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare financial forecasts to assist in strategic planning.
  • Support executive management in financial planning and strategy development.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations.
  • M&A - Collaborate with legal and operational teams to ensure smooth financial integration of acquired entities.
  • M&A - Develop post-acquisition integration plans, including aligning accounting policies, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • M&A - Monitor the financial performance of acquired entities and report on integration progress.
  • M&A - Support negotiations by providing financial insights and valuation analysis.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure team is adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties effectively.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.

Do You meet these requirements?

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's Degree/CPA/CMA a plus
  • Experience: 5-7 years in a progressive accounting roles with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
