Senior Accountant (temporary position)

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant's primary responsibilities are related to day-to-day general ledger transactions, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations. In addition, this role supports the team with compliance reporting, quarterly and annual audits, and financial analysis.

Working under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is a key role within the Accounting Team and the broader organization, providing oversight to ensure the financial records are complete, accurate and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing monthly general ledger closing procedures under tight deadlines
  • Prepare journal entries for routine transactions
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Management of certain aspects of the monthly close which may include areas such as revenue recognition, consolidated accounts receivable reconciliation, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, commissions calculation, or prepaid asset amortization
  • Key contributor during quarterly and annual financial audits
  • Ensure all financial data is in compliance with GAAP
  • Leverage automation, technology and techniques to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Complete various filings and reports for regulatory compliance
  • Ad Hoc analysis and projects as needed
Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • CPA and/or public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of broad general accounting and corporate reporting experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills with pivot tables, lookups, and IF formulas
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, inclusive of ASC 842 Lease Accounting and ASC 606 Revenue Recognition
  • Strong analytical, numerical proficiency, and problem solving skills
  • Technologically proficient and systems savvy, comfortable navigating systems
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility in hours as required to meet deliverable deadlines
  • Proven ability to act with discretion and protect confidential information
  • Motivated and proactive self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Comfortable collaborating with departments across the organization
  • Previous media industry experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Oracle Fusion a plus

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in Burbank, CA [no relocations]
  • Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background investigation
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work overtime, holiday or weekends on short notice
  • Must possess a valid CA Drivers License with good driving record
  • Must be 18 years or older.
