Under the leadership of the Dean for the College of Science, Engineering & Technology and working with the Director of Atwood Innovation Plaza (AIP), this position supports the small business communities in rural areas of Southern Utah through all stages of business growth, utilizing the resources of the University's Business Resource Center (BRC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant. This position is partially funded through the EDA grant through a five-year grant cycle; thus, continued employment is contingent upon grant funding. Information about the BRC is online at

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, marketing, business required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least two years' program management experience required; experience consulting with startups and small businesses, particularly those in rural areas of Utah, preferred.
  • Experience working with local economic governmental organizations preferred (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Business Resource Center, Association of Governments, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, advanced knowledge in Excel and data management platforms preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically and work independently, with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently, including events and marketing within budget constraints.
  • Evidence and experience in organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; able to establish and maintain positive working relationships throughout the community.


POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $60,000+ depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of August 2024.
