Construction Technology and Sustainability Manager – Heavy Construction Focus

KBR is looking for a Construction Technology and Sustainability Manager with broad direction to identify existing construction technologies with new adaptation to the petrochemical construction industry, and emerging heavy construction technologies with strategic development goals of improving the safety, quality, productivity, progress measurement, and construction execution while promoting Sustainability within these goals. Construction technologies may be wide ranging as examples, but not limited to, drones, 3-D visualization, AI applications, wearable devices, advanced equipment, automated welding, materials, field devices for workers, automation, robotics, AR/VR, new innovative concepts under development. This includes the promotion of decarbonization and the circular economy with a strong focus on waste minimization, water management, energy optimization, emissions reductions and alternative energies through these construction technologies.

This role will provide input and coordinate for the establishment of a project Construction Technologies Philosophy, in which the key project requirements are for the minimization of construction, installation and project work hours expended on site.

The Construction Technology and Sustainability Manager will act as the channel of communications with the Client and EPC Contractor on all matters relevant to Sustainability. This role will liaise with various technology suppliers for the project, prepare executive reports, and interface with client representatives.

The Construction Technology and Sustainability Manager will contribute to the development of construction strategies and planning initiatives for project pre-FEED execution plan and estimate and follow-on FEED execution plan development and estimate.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and provide feedback on existing construction technologies & on new construction technologies
  • Interface and arrange strategy sessions with potential vendors and suppliers of technologies to evaluate their effectiveness and potential uses
  • Strong focus on developing technologies to protect workers such as wearables for monitoring worker safety and to improve worker productivity, quality and progress measurement
  • Provide constructability guidance and solutions to engineering that are sustainable
  • Promote
    • standardization and repeatability of design across project site
    • sustainable building materials such as green concrete, recycled steel, and eco-friendly interior finishes
    • energy efficient practices such as electric vehicles, equipment and tools
    • sustainable construction practices such as the collection and treatment of wastewater for reuse; minimization of diesel generators; collection and recycling of construction waste
  • Prepare execution plans that support these practices
  • Supervise in general the sustainable methods adopted by the Contractor for the execution of the works undertaken by him in order to ensure the satisfactory execution
  • Assure implementation of the company's Safety Policy
  • Notify the Contractor and others of any hazardous situations

Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field technology field, or construction management with a strong focus on construction technology development
  • Strategic development of Hi-tech infrastructure projects
  • 10 + years of progressive related experience with average experience of 20 years
  • EPC Construction Projects experience
  • Experience with technology and digital solutions related to construction automation, material management, and control systems
  • Ability to plan and execute daily, weekly, and overall project planning from project initiation to completion and turnover
  • Strong leadership skills aimed at achieving high craft productivity and overall cost management
  • Project setup and subcontracting strategy
