Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Quality Management staff provides infection control oversight throughout the hospital in order to ensure a safe care environment. These dedicated professionals identify, investigate and record data concerning nosocomial or hospital-acquired infections. They perform quality improvement studies to identify and implement action plans to improve the prevention of nosocomial infections, as well as plan and measure unit rotation to meet The Joint Commission, State and Federal regulations as directed by the Infection Control Committee.

If you have a great sense of quality control and meticulous testing protocol, you could be our next Point of Care Testing Coordinator at Hawai'i Pacific Health hospitals and clinics. You will be responsible for developing a quality control and quality assurance program in clinical pathology for all ancillary laboratories that perform testing outside the Pathology Department, in compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certified Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Five (5) years medical technologist or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Point of Care Testing Evaluator (POCTE) qualification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
