ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Plan, coordinate, develop and monitor new and ongoing special education transportation routes; schedules school site student activity transportation. Assists in resolving scheduling conflicts for the purpose of ensuring all routes are covered; Makes temporary arrangements for route changes and schedules in accordance with established guidelines; review routes and schedules to accommodate changes.
Coordinates with assigned personnel at each school site to schedule and arrange student activity transportation for the District; develop initial transportation estimates for student activities and generate final cost reports for submission to the school site and/or Accounting Department.
Monitors student transportation service provider's performance and compliance with contract requirements to ensure that District expectations are being met; maintains liaison between the contractor and the District, meeting regularly with the contractor's staff to exchange information, and resolve issues.
Analyze pupil needs, school start and end times, cost effectiveness, compliance and other pertinent factors to ensure contract compliance and mitigating costs.
Receive, review and process bills and contracts; inspect cost calculations to assure accuracy and completeness; verify adequate funding, required authorization, invoice information; identify and resolve issues and discrepancies. Process mileage reimbursements to provide to the Accounting department.
Research, compile, prepare, verify and revise financial data related to assigned accounts and activities; obtain signatures and approval for various transactions.
Maintain a variety of logs, records and files related to transportation; maintain records and prepare reports related to regular and special routes, schedules, and financial efficiency.
Compiles data from a variety of sources; inputs data related into an assigned system; makes necessary corrections and assures accuracy of data input; prepares maps and routine instructions as required. Collects data for use in transportation planning, maintains records for reporting as necessary, makes recommendations to the supervisor for changes to contract and/or policies.
Collaborates with school site personnel and special education administrators on concerns related to transporting special education students for the purpose of resolving transportation issues and delivering services in conformance with District objectives. Works with contractors to resolve operational or other problems such as scheduling conflicts.
Serves as liaison between the District and the contractor; responds to questions and complaints from parents; serves as a liaison for special situation routing including homeless students. Receives parent calls and concerns, and resolves the majority through either explanation of District policies and/or safety considerations or through working with the contractor to improve service.
Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g., parents, staff, transportation contractor, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information, determining and
monitoring the appropriate course of action, and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
Performs a variety of administrative support functions for the District including answering telephones and responding to inquiries and special requests; sends and receives emails; directs inquiries to the appropriate department or person as needed; provides or verifies information.
Operates a variety of office equipment (e.g. copier, calculator, facsimile, computer and assigned
software) for the purpose of planning, designing, and scheduling routes and sharing
information.

This is a promotional recruitment to establish an eligibility list for openings for a period of one year, or until depleted.
