Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Detention Officer to join our team at Eddy County, NM. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the behavior of residents, coordinating with law enforcement agencies and judiciary agencies as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor the behavior of residents in the detention center
  • Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and judiciary agencies as necessary
  • Plan and perform a wide range of detention duties to ensure the proper booking, incarceration, and safety of persons committed to the Detention Center
  • Inspect facilities for cleanliness and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Identify and report conditions or practices that may compromise overall sanitation effectiveness
  • Maintain an inventory of sanitation supplies and inmate supplies
  • Transport prisoners to court and other appearances as needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain any necessary certifications
Working Conditions

The Detention Officer will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The officer will be required to stand for long periods, walk, and climb stairs. The officer will also be required to work in a variety of environments, including the detention center, courtrooms, and other locations as needed.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $26.21 per hour. The Eddy County, NM offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
