JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development of innovative AI applications, services, and tools. You will leverage your extensive experience in applying AI/ML to drive business value, thrive in our fast-paced environment, and contribute to the advancement of emerging technologies. Your past experience in digital media and video will be instrumental in building dynamic workflows and orchestrations for both live and VOD (Video on Demand) content. Your expertise in multi-cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Databricks will be crucial in our distributed computing landscape. We work on cutting edge projects using AI that includes building conversational agents using LLMs, generating automatic highlights, contextualizing videos and articles at scale, driving live storytelling, powering bleeding edge consumer products and features.

ABOUT FOX
  • Demonstrated tenacity, resilience, and leadership experience to organize and drive cross-functional projects, overcome challenges, and propose solutions
  • Ability to assess and understand complex systems quantitatively and qualitatively, coupled with high emotional intelligence (EQ) to act as a product ambassador

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Manage a team of 5-7 engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship
  • Responsible for prototyping and implementing novel and scalable AI solutions for real business problems for hundreds of millions of users
  • Design and implement workflows to generate and manage assets for live streaming and VOD
  • Uphold high standards of software craftsmanship while delivering impactful results
  • Offer expert advice to engineering teams and project leaders to navigate technical challenges
  • Instill an innovative and collaborative culture within your team and the broader organization
  • Bridge the gap between Product, Engineering, Strategy, and Data Science & Engineering (DSE) teams with a deep understanding of how the product works
  • Ensure your team produces consistently trustworthy and high-quality technical outputs that influence the business
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional agile team spanning user research, design, data science, product management, and engineering
  • Role-model and promote best practices of ML model development, testing, and evaluation throughout the organization
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Proven experience of successfully leading teams and projects in software engineering, data science, and ML engineering
  • Ability to be hands-on, as 50% responsibility of this role will involve coding
  • Strong background in live media streaming and handling VOD content
  • Strong understanding of generative AI technologies and their underlying mechanisms
  • Develop and refine creative writing prompts to guide our generative AI in producing relevant and engaging content
  • Experience working with vector databases
  • Proficient in designing REST or GraphQL APIs
  • Hands-on experience implementing production NLP and ML systems at scale
  • Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch etc.
  • Solid understanding of designing distributed systems
  • Proficient with building batch and streaming data pipelines on cloud platforms
  • Capable of designing and implementing search clusters using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $121, ,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
