SMX is seeking a Senior AI Analyst to support a new USINDOPACOM J5 office in Hawaii developing an AI/ML enabled plans capability (STORMBREAKER).

As a Sr.

AI Analyst, you will be working on an accelerated development project in support of a high priority Department of Defense program.

This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, integration of existing capabilities, as well as development of new applications.

You would be a great candidate for this position if you have worked on teams in DoD modeling and simulation-based projects, especially where assets (platforms, systems, personnel) perform at an aggregate level to carry out large-scale operations per plans that include rules of engagement (ROE), GIS data, platform capabilities, intelligence reports, political affiliations, etc.

You understand how these aspects interrelate with how a plan executes, and you can build AI components that enable the planner to develop courses of action (COAs.).

The candidate for this position must have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively. They must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, make decisions in the midst of ambiguity, and meet deadlines. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who needs minimal supervision.

STORMBREAKER utilizes the latest technology in AI to create scenarios with units which act based not only on the developed plan but also on doctrine to carry out the plan.

Using AI components to represent units and platforms enables planners to quickly build and test different COAs using different strategies.

The STORMBREAKER program represents a rare opportunity to modernize the current planning process by providing military decision makers with the latest technology and AI driven tools to keep our nation safe.

This position requires the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret /SCI clearance which requires US citizenship for work on a DoD contract.

  • Create a library of unit/platform behaviors, where each behavior takes into account all factors that govern how different combinations of units, platforms, and capabilities act to carry out a mission
  • Understand how doctrine, leadership, and planning roles work together to lead military units in a defined battlespace
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs), program leadership, partner organizations, and technical personnel to ensure accuracy in the execution of plans for specific scenarios

  • Mission planning as it relates to setting up a battlespace with appropriate assets positioned to react per doctrine to events that also include enemy forces working per their own asset limits, doctrine, and planning
  • Experience using integrated development environments, employing scripting or some other method to build and test behaviors that carry out missions based on plans doctrine and scenario events
