Summary

The Office of the International Transportation and Trade is the Secretary's principal organization for the development, direction, and coordination of international transportation and trade policies; diplomatic programs and protocol activities; and functions as the focal point for review of major policy issues resulting from Department-wide international transportation activities.



Duties

The International Relations Specialist (Border Coordination) will:

  • Analyze border coordination policy issues, identifying global and domestic trends, and coordinating border policies, plans, and investments across the Department, with other agencies, and with domestic and international partners.
  • Coordinate the Department's multi-modal border efforts and provide guidance and subject matter expertise to senior officials.
  • Participates as a technical expert and DOT representative in interagency consultations with foreign government representatives in various geographic areas and presents DOT's position to high level representatives of other U.S. agencies and foreign governments.
  • Research and develop the Department's positions, reports, and strategies on transport aspects of border coordination in consultation with operating administrations.
  • Represent the Director of the Office of International Transportation and Trade in meetings, conferences, negotiations and consultations with stakeholders, foreign governments, and international organizations to achieve policy objectives, and resolve bilateral market access issues with foreign countries.

Ideal Candidate: OST is looking for a seasoned, motivated, and self-reliant professional who can share their expertise in international transit systems planning or boarder coordination (i.e., infrastructure improvement, safety, trade, environment) affecting transportation and/or trade program issues with skilled professionals.
