Role Overview:

The Quality Assurance Manager, leads the Quality Assurance (QA) department in directing, planning, coordinating our QA program to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards and compliance with regulatory codes. The Manager, Quality Assurance, should have root cause analysis experience, audit experience (internal, external, supplier), and should have experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Section III code. Nuclear experience a plus. This role has direct reports.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to IMI policies and goals.
  • Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review by the quality assurance engineers.
  • Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with IMI policies and procedures.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization.
  • Works with line managers to identify and reach quality benchmarks.
  • Tracks warranty, auditing, and customer feedback to improve process integrity.
  • Ensures that quality measures are implemented on time and in accordance with regulations.
  • Inspects products, processes, and metrics to find opportunities to improve quality.
  • Designs and implements quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality edge.
  • Is to become an NQA-1 Qualified Lead Auditor and perform audit related activities accordingly.


Critical Competencies for Success

  • Nuclear Experience w/ demonstrated success in QA with ISO and Nuclear codes.
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Savvy in MS Applications: (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) a plus.
  • Ability to direct, coordinate and oversee company audits.
  • Lead a team and maintain auditory requirements for Customer and Industry Org.
  • Must be able to work autonomously to function in assigned area.
  • Code understanding and ability to translate code into advisable actions at site.
  • ISO 9001 Knowledge/Understanding/Certification.
  • ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Section III.
  • Nuclear 10CFR Part 21 (preferred).
  • Nuclear 10CFR50 Appendix B (preferred).


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering discipline).
  • Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent is a plus
  • 4+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range: $85,000 to $126,000 depending on experience.
