Job Description

**Job Summary**

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for maintaining and updating critical quality documentation, including laboratory accreditation documentation, quality management systems, internal audits, standards readiness, proficiency tests, calibration procedures, and calibration datasheets. This role will support and drive quality excellence across all laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaison with Accrediting Body: Assist in preparation and submission of accrediting body applications for accreditation or expansion of the current scope of accreditation. Review and approve corrective actions from accrediting body audit findings and submit formal responses along with objective evidence.
  2. Annual Internal Audits: Perform annual internal audits of SIMCO laboratories, maintaining an internal audit schedule.
  3. Management Reviews: Participate in developing and documenting SIMCO's management reviews.
  4. Approved Supplier List: Maintain SIMCO's approved supplier list, performing subcontractor evaluations.
  5. Controlled Documents: Maintain SIMCO's master listing of controlled documents, conducting and reviewing impact analysis for out-of-tolerance notifications for all SIMCO standards.
  6. Corrective Actions: Investigate, review, and perform analysis on SIMCO corrective actions, providing objective evidence.
  7. Proficiency Test Program: Manage SIMCO's proficiency test program, creating and developing comprehensive proficiency tests to drive process improvement. Review and evaluate results, providing guidance to laboratories on best practices.
  8. Datasheets: Create, review, and update datasheets, generating detailed and accurate datasheets for equipment and instruments. Continuously review and revise datasheets to maintain accuracy and relevancy, ensuring compliance with accrediting body requirements and SIMCO standards.
  9. Calibration Procedures: Create, review, and update calibration procedures, developing comprehensive calibration procedures for calibration processes. Regularly review and update existing procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  10. Quality Excellence: Support and drive quality excellence across all locations, providing quality support and guidance to laboratory staff. Lead initiatives to improve quality processes and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have above-average proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel.
  2. Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and Z540).
  3. Knowledge of SharePoint is a plus.
  4. Knowledge of METCAL and SureCal automation is a plus.
  5. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education / Experience / Training / Certifications:

  1. Minimum AA degree, formal PMEL training, or equivalent.
  2. Ten years of experience in the calibration industry.

Physical Demands:

  1. Must be able to lift 45 pounds without assistance.
  2. Occasional standing and bending may be required.

Working Environment:

  1. Works primarily from home, but some projects may require the Quality Manager to be in the laboratory or manufacturing environment at a SIMCO location and/or customer sites.
  2. Travel may be required to other domestic and possibly international locations.
