Senior Environmental Remediation Specialist

Environmental Remediation Specialists are professionals who design and implement solutions to restore contaminated sites and protect human health and the environment. They work on a variety of projects, such as brownfields, landfills, mining sites, oil spills, and industrial facilities. Remediation consultants need a combination of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills to succeed in this challenging and rewarding field.


Your project base will have you using various scientific methodologies and disciplines, engineering techniques, and biosciences to address environmental issues. This includes efficiency, resource management, and public policy compliance. Candidates should know your local environmental regulations, technical guidance, and risk assessments. Cost estimating, project specification preparation, and project planning skills are a plus.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Knowledge of remediation technologies which includes physical, chemical, biological, and thermal methods, as well as emerging technologies such as nanoremediation and phytoremediation, and procedures.
  • Remediation System O&M.
  • Task Management of remediation and assessment projects.
  • Preparing Assessment/Remediation Reports.
  • Conduct Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II Limited Site Assessments (LSI).
  • QA/QC review of Phase I ESAs and related environmental due diligence reports.
  • QA/QC laboratory analytical data
  • Develop SPCC Plans and manage SWPPP Compliance Monitoring programs.
  • Knowledge of water, soil, and air testing, sampling, and investigation techniques
  • Act as the technical lead provide technical advice and contribute to the development of conclusions and recommendations for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain department databases and informational resources.
  • Develop and maintain report templates to meet the requirements of industry protocols.
  • Remain up to date on industry practices and protocols.
  • Office tasks may include reviewing and interpreting data and preparing reports and work plans; client, subcontractor, and regulatory agency interaction; and developing and implementing remedial strategies.
  • Work closely with the clients to provide deliverables to completion.
  • Work with Operations Manager and Clients with new work and change orders.
  • Vet and manage subcontractors.
  • Mentor junior staff.


Required Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, related environmental/engineering field, or equivalent experience.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • You will need a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Prior experience supporting Oil and Gas is a plus.
  • Current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Must have a safe driving record and a valid Driver's License and must have a satisfactory driving record by the Company's driving policy.

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • A diverse background in environmental site assessment, remediation, risk assessment, and field sampling (soils, groundwater, and surface water.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities.
  • Independently problem solve and work autonomously with a sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional writing, grammatical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Required knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (Microsoft Office and Adobe).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint preferred.
