Position Overview
The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Natural Resource Specialist. This position is open to all U.S. Citizens and Nationals, with a focus on ensuring compliance with key environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support various compliance initiatives related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and Clean Water Act (CWA).
- Collaborate with state and federal agencies to develop effective management plans and agreements.
- Coordinate with a diverse team of professionals to execute outdoor recreation and natural resource projects, including supervising seasonal laborers.
- Engage in team efforts focused on the management of recreation, fish, and wildlife resources.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and provide expert assistance to multidisciplinary teams involved in environmental assessments and permitting processes.
Employment Conditions
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Nationals and suitable for federal employment, as determined by a background investigation. Applicants are required to submit a resume and supporting documentation, including transcripts to verify educational qualifications.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Natural Resource Specialist position, candidates must meet both the Basic Education Requirement and Additional Requirements. A clear demonstration of relevant experience in the resume is essential.
Basic Education Requirement:
- A 4-year degree from an accredited institution in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related fields.
- Alternatively, a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in the aforementioned disciplines.
Additional Requirement:
- For GS-11 level, candidates must possess specialized experience comparable to the GS-9 level in federal service, including involvement in environmental compliance activities and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Alternatively, candidates may qualify through a combination of graduate education and specialized experience.
Education Verification
Candidates must provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications if selected. Only education from accredited institutions recognized by the Department of Education will be accepted.
Accreditation and Foreign Education
Education completed outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a recognized organization to determine equivalency to U.S. education standards.
