This position is a “hands on” sales position, which requires most of the person’s time to be spent in the field making sales calls and developing new business. It requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships. This person will call on End Users, OEMs, and Distributors in our Midwest markets. They will be responsible for managing a team of independent Manufacturer’s Representatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritize personal sales activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving agreed business aims and sales goals.
  • Plan and manage personal business portfolio/territory/business according to an agreed market development strategy.
  • Manage product mix, pricing and margins according to agreed business goals.
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through carrying out the agreed upon action plan.
  • Enter all customer and prospect contact activities into the CRM software on a daily basis, using the company supplied laptop.
  • Provide sales forecasts, weekly sales reports, industry reports, and marketing ideas to Management.
  • Plan, carry out, and support marketing activities and programs.
  • Integrate personal sales efforts with product launches, promotions, and exhibitions.
  • Develop objectives for trade show participation, follow up on all leads in the territory, and report results. 
  • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities.
  • Attend quarterly sales meetings at the corporate office to assist with business development.
  • Maintain product samples and REP samples according to company procedures.
  • Represents our company at trade association meetings to promote our products and stay abreast of our industry’s requirements.
  • Determines markets, sales channels, and opportunities to support long range sales goals and objectives.
  • Communicates (formally and informally) with Marketing, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Administration on sales related topics to ensure superior and professional service is provided to our customers.

Qualifications

  • Possesses superior sales and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 60% of the time.
  • Have the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of related sales experience in the Lighting or related industry.
  • Experience in multiple sales channels, including Rep management, sales distribution and OEM direct sales.
  • Has a strong technical aptitude.
  • Possesses public speaking skills to represent the company at trade shows and professional organizations.
  • Has excellent computer skills and experience utilizing CRM software.
  • Hands-on experience and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Well-organized and enthusiastic individual that desires a position with a growing company that offers growth potential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
