Import Export Coordinator

Job Description:

  • Process import/export trade compliance clearance of cross border shipments in Global Trade Management system (Oracle module)
  • Provide import clearance instructions to broker by validating and preparing documentation subject to Customs, FDA and other government agencies
  • Point of contact for shipment processing with different business partners and respond to internal and external shipment inquires
  • Maintain repository for imports and exports recording retention
  • Assist developing and maintain standard operating procedures for import/export operations


REQUIRED SKILLS (i.e., years of experience, education, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 13 years of experience
  • Previous work experience and understanding of Trade Compliance (7501 for US, or equivalent in other countries)
  • Understanding of Customs requirements and regulations
  • Knowledge of record retention best practices for customs documentation (e.g., storage and organization of electronic records)
  • Experience doing import/export operations
  • Understanding of HTS classification principles
  • Availability to work in US ET time zone, as well as early calls to coordinate with Europe locations
  • Experience working with import/export operations in US and Europe is a plus (UK, CH specially)


ADDITONAL EXPECTATIONS (preferred or desired skills)

  • Experience with excel databases and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP)
  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Agile
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Previous experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., Food, Pharma, Medical devices, etc.) is a plus
  • General understanding, experience auditing customs valuation incremental such as freight, assists, etc.
