The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for the organization and activities of the entire facility with a sales revenue of approximately $15 million and approximately 30-50 employees. With oversight of the operation, this leader optimizes labor, material and time, while ensuring the highest levels of product quality and workplace safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the facility with production environment, including approximately 30-50 exempt and non-exempt permanent and temporary employees
  • Monitor productivity and ensure product quality
  • Ensure reduction of waste within the process
  • Audits production (randomly inspect pieces) to verify conformance to customer specifications
  • Directs supervisors and others to ensure that targets are met for quality, productivity, throughput time and on time delivery
  • Empowers supervisors and others to identify and eliminate issues in order to reduce costs and throughput times to increase productivity as well as identify and eliminate issues that lead to poor quality and/or scrap
  • Remains current with industry technology, processes, and practices
  • Ensures that equipment and facility maintenance needs are being addressed in a timely manner
  • Manages team members to ensure on time delivery of product to customers and downstream departments, production to plan, and intra-department material flow
  • Oversees and plans departmental staffing levels on a day-to-day basis
  • Mentors / develops the department Supervisors and Coordinators Develops the skills and abilities of team members within the department; oversee training efforts; coach and counsels under- performing employees
  • Directs team member training and developmental opportunities as well as solicits ideas to continuously improve department operations
  • Oversees employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Manage workplace safety, in particular the authority to stop any activity that is deemed unsafe or that may pose an unacceptable risk of injury to any employee
  • Continuously monitors the operation to ensure that employees adhere to safe work practices and to ensure that there are no hazards in the workplace
  • Ensure workplace cleanliness and orderliness
  • Plans and analyzes business needs, budgeting, and forecasting, performing semi-annual budgeting and forecasting activities as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing or operations with at least 5 years in a management role; leadership of at least 30 employees and $10-$15M in revenue through the operation
  • Process Engineering experience
  • Demonstrated track record of creating value through operations excellence
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required to support area of responsibility
  • Fluency in Spanish is required
