Overview

The Territory Sales Representative is responsible for the development, performance, and maintenance of sales activities in the New York market. This position recognizes opportunities in the marketplace and establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the defined market area. In addition to managing accounts, the Territory Sales Representative will collaborate closely with architects to secure project work.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall selling in an assigned territory to existing and prospective building contractors, remodelling contractors, distributors, and lumber yards.
  • Maintains product knowledge as designs and products change, prepares presentations, proposals, and sales materials.
  • Prepares action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made.
  • Works with key customers to secure project work through distribution by educating on product specifications, design, and performance.
  • Prepares weekly sales reports showing areas of concern and areas for improvement.
  • Follows up on leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Three to five years of sales experience in a similar position with demonstrated ability to assume increasing responsibilities.
  • Significant local travel to current and potential clients with a willingness to work a flexible schedule and overnight travel.
  • Clean, valid state driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of sales promotion techniques with experience in all aspects of Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Ability to persuade and influence others.
  • Ability to create, compose, and present materials. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management concepts and techniques.
  • Organizational and time management skills and a positive style personality.
  • Excellent people skills and poise in dealing with a diverse range of people in a variety of circumstances. Experience working with high-level constituency positively and productively is required.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact with peers, management, and other departments professionally.
