Summary of Essential Functions for the Position:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing, verifying, billing and coordinating billing matters including Medicare or Medicaid, if applicable. Records payments and reconciles remittance advices. Follow-ups on claim denials, pending and aged claims. Performs various functions in the preparation of Medicare/Medicaid billing.


Qualifications:


Qualifications / Licensure / Certification / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • One (1) to Two (2) years of experience in Home Health Billing preferred.
  • Must be well organized and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and with deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in payroll and billing software (e.g., Paycom, QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party reimbursement requirements.
  • Ability to provide knowledge and skills as it pertains to the billing process.
  • Proficient knowledge of intermediary billing policies and requirements.
  • Must demonstrate good customer relations skills and a commitment to providing quality service.
  • Acceptance and ability to demonstrate and support the core values and goals of Agency.


Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Working environment is relatively quiet and can be stressful due to deadlines, multiple tasks and general compliance of law, rules and regulations. The position requires visual acuity and dexterity, sitting, standing, some pushing, pulling and lifting up to 25 pounds.
