New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit faith-based federation, uniting faith communities, human services providers, and charitable organizations to deliver disaster readiness, response, and recovery services in New York City and Puerto Rico – and, when requested and capable, metro NYC counties.


Position Overview:

NYDIS is seeking full-time Resource Navigators to join a dynamic team supporting asylum-seekers and other eligible populations at municipal Reticketing Centers. As a Resource Navigator, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive resource navigation services, ensuring clients are connected to New York City’s vast network of health, human, and social services. This is a 12–24-month contract position with the possibility of extension, expected to serve approximately 1,400 clients per week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff a module at NYC’s Reticketing Center provide ongoing support to eligible individuals.
  • Provide onsite guidance on available services, programs, and resources to walk-ups or by appointment.
  • Input client data and track resource referrals in online database, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate team members and report client needs, service gaps, and emerging trends to Supervisors.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to help NYDIS revise online resource directory accordingly.
  • Stay informed about evolving landscape of services and resources, including legal, healthcare, housing, employment, and social services.
  • Submit all requested data for compliance with program guidelines and documentation requirements.
  • Foster a culturally and language competent team that offers a welcoming and supportive client experience for asylum seekers and migrants from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Provide trauma informed care and referrals that meet any emergency needs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisors to support the overall success of the program.
  • Full-time work hours are available Monday-Saturday, flex and weekend hours are available.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, public health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in casework, service navigation, human services, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, Arabic, Wolof, or one or more other West African languages required.
  • Prior experience working with immigrant or asylum-seeker populations strongly preferred.
  • Experience in disaster response, emergency services, or public health is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage with clients and team members professionally and empathetically.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Proficient in Data Entry as well as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases.
  • Knowledge of the New York City social service landscape and community resources is a plus.
