Job Type: Full-Time
On behalf of a highly regarded law firm located in the heart of the Chicago Loop, we are actively seeking a resourceful and dedicated Legal Assistant. Job Responsibilities:
- Assisting attorneys in drafting and preparing legal documents such as legal arguments, motions, contracts, and agreements.
- Organizing and managing legal files to ensure they are updated and readily accessible.
- Coordinating phone communications, managing attorneys' schedules, and arranging meetings, appointments, and conference calls.
- Creating, editing, and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, including pleadings and contracts.
- Conducting legal research to support legal proceedings and assist in trial preparation.
- Attending trials, taking and transcribing minutes.
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm.
- In-depth knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, protocols, and court systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office and a working knowledge of legal technology (e.g., court-filing computer systems, transcription software).
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- A high degree of discretion for handling confidential information.
- A Bachelor's degree in law, paralegal studies, or a related field is preferred.
