Position Specifications:

The Enterprise Risk Manager will continue to build and scale an effective risk management program. This role will require a solutions-oriented individual who is experienced in risk management in a highly regulated environment. This role will have responsibility for the ERM activities for the Company by facilitating and monitoring the implementation of effective risk management practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommend, direct and implement ERM strategies and operations to ensure the ERM framework, including the supporting, processes, risk appetite statements, tolerances and measures, are embedded and operationalized throughout the Company
  • Support ongoing risk management, assessments and commitment across functions by engaging in risk discussions and interactions to support ongoing risk identification, ownership, mitigation and acceptance
  • Involvement in the Model Risk Management program from a second line of defense perspective, ensuring first line of defense responsibilities are executed
  • Coordinate with second and third line of defense functions, including Third Party Risk Management, Compliance, Information Security, and Internal Audit to promote enterprise risk activities
  • Oversee the issues management framework, including monitoring and analyzing issues and risks within the Company and individual business units; prepare and present risk reports, analyses, and recommendations to senior management and the ERM Committee that highlight themes, root causes and emerging risks
  • Maintain ERM processes, procedures, and tracking to address and monitor the timely remediation of risk management issues, internal mandates, and regulatory guidance
  • Drive risk assessments, remediation and risk awareness across the Company
  • Assess control effectiveness and provide independent risk challenge and oversight, ensuring issues are recorded accurately, adhere to program requirements, and align to defined risk classifications
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to assess their potential impact on the Company’s risk profile and develop appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Maintain excellent communication with all levels of the organization, be responsive to issue owners / managers, and provide appropriate training across the Company


Skills / Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of risk management frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, risk management processes, risk appetite statements, and key risk measures / indicators with the ability to apply quantitative and qualitative techniques to assess and mitigate risks
  • Strong language and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely across multiple levels, foster open communication, and active listening with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly with minimal required supervision
  • Experience leading and managing meetings with cross functional teams, effectively and efficiently communicating and driving assigned tasks to completion
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively to diverse stakeholders


Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college with a minimum of 7+ years in risk management, preferably in the financial services industry, with a knowledge of banking products, processes and regulations
  • Related risk management experience with a proven record of accomplishment of success in enterprise risk management, internal controls, and an understanding of regulatory guidelines
