Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to oversee a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. This leadership role involves managing the technical and engineering aspects of a diverse range of properties, ensuring their optimal performance, maintenance, and compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and implement strategies for the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of a commercial real estate portfolio.
  • Property Inspections: Lead and manage property inspection programs, ensuring comprehensive assessments of building conditions and systems.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate engineering-related risks, including deferred maintenance and environmental concerns.
  • Vendor Management: Select and oversee third-party vendors for property inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical advice and guidance to the Portfolio Management, Underwriting, Operations, Real Estate, and Closing teams.
  • Due Diligence: Support property condition and environmental due diligence processes for acquisitions, including reviewing and assessing reports and studies.
  • Project Management: Manage development and redevelopment projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with contractors and consultants.
  • Compliance: Ensure properties meet all regulatory and safety standards, and address any compliance issues that arise.
  • Team Leadership: Assemble and lead a team of engineers and consultants to perform tasks and address issues efficiently.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on property conditions, risks, and project progress to senior management.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in engineering and technical roles, preferably in commercial real estate.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field; advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, analytical skills, and budget management.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing large-scale projects.
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all work products.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of development, construction, asset management, engineering, and operations.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed for property inspections and project oversight.
