About Us: CREO DuPage is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to low-income,  first-generation, and highly motivated Latinx high school students to help them succeed in school and ultimately graduate from college. CREO provides academic coaching, advising, and student and family-centered workshops that focus on the holistic development of youth for pre-college success,  high school-to-college transition, and degree completion. 


Responsibilities

The Bilingual Program Coordinator serves as a central point of contact for families, is responsible for developing and implementing program services, and provides direction to volunteer teams that oversee and support the program functions of CREO DuPage. This position is 25-30 hours per week.  

  • Coordinate the development, operations, and systems of student and family-facing (advising,  parent workshops) programs within the budget approved and allocated for program services. -staff responsibilities: ie. meetings and reporting).  
  • Build rapport with students and families; continuously engage and hold them accountable to  CREO program expectations and requirements.  
  • Advising: Share and collect information to empower parents as partners to support and challenge their students to grow and achieve. Provide support and accountability to program families.
  • Oversee annual recruitment of new program participants, including application revisions,  outreach materials, information sessions, interviews, and follow-up for missing documents/incomplete applications.  
  • Provide onboarding for new students and families on program expectations, policies,  communication tools, and ongoing program services.  
  • Provide training and onboarding for new volunteers in specific program roles & evaluate ongoing volunteer training needs, and provide resources and additional support as needed.  
  • Define new volunteer roles and develop volunteer leadership coordination of service areas and empower volunteers to take ownership of program tasks:
  • Caminando Juntos: Work collaboratively with a team of volunteers and parents to identify needs and to provide monthly workshops relevant to parenting adolescents,  communication skills, educational success, post-secondary education, and career development.  
  • Coaching: Direct weekly activities for academic support and social-emotional learning differentiated by grade level. Provides ongoing supervision to volunteer coaches (tutors/mentors/advisors).  
  • Support and participate in Saturday Morning Live student workshops.
  • Planning and coordination of campus visits or other student activities.
  • Support the ongoing development of mentoring relationships for 11th/12th-grade  students entering their college transition phase and provide support to students to complete applications for college entrance, financial aid, scholarships, and other resources for post-secondary access and success.  
  • Assist the Executive Director and AC Team with ongoing evaluation to identify and address other programming needs of students and families, including summer camps/ programs/  events and other skills that ultimately contribute to their college readiness and leadership development.  
  • Keep the Executive Director updated on program challenges and concerns that affect the safety of program participants, volunteers, or the organization's image.  
  • Work with community partners, volunteers, and staff to develop CREO summer programs and share other external resources for students to improve their academic skills and fuel their passions for learning.
  • Assist the Executive Director with coordinating and translating communication, storytelling, social media, and donor relationships that support programming.
  • Facilitate local partnerships with key sources of volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications

❏ Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Master’s in Education, Social Work, Spanish, or other related fields is preferred.  

❏ Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) 

❏ Entrepreneurial self-starter with a passion for people and a belief in the transformative power  of education  

❏ Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively  communicate with diverse audiences, especially adults and older youth  

❏ Prior experience with mentoring, education support programs, youth development, and familiarity with first-generation student characteristics.  

❏ Proficiency with Google software applications and virtual conferencing & collaboration tools  (Zoom, Google Meets) and other educational and nonprofit software platforms.
