HR Ops Manager San Mateo, CA, a leading edtech company with products used by 14 million students worldwide, has an exciting opportunity available for a Human Resources Manager.


We are looking for a skilled and experienced HR Operations Manager to join our growing team. As the HR Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing ongoing employee programs, developing new high impact processes, and driving employee engagement. This is a full time position in our San Mateo, CA office.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING ● Oversee all aspects of our processes, programs, and policies related to employee onboarding, offboarding, benefits immigration, and compliance while upholding our people-first culture and approach to problem solving. Translate these processes into HR systems (workday, etc.). ● Lead and continuously improve new hire onboarding to ensure employees and managers are prepared for their first day (manage onboarding logistics, new hire communications, tools, and systems). ● Partner with Payroll to ensure efficient and accurate processing of payroll, time-off requests, stipends/reimbursements and new-hire bonuses. ● Manage the contingent workforce program and work with partners in IT, legal, compliance, and finance on day to day needs. ● Partner with brokers in the US, Canada, and UK to design and implement health, welfare, and retirement plans that meet our total rewards strategy. ● Own the Benefits work streams within HR initiatives to automate and simplify benefit administration globally. ● Oversee annual reporting for the company, including ACA, EEO-C, OSHA 300, and 5500's, as well as other mid-year and annual tasks. ● Manage workers compensation program per state/country, including coordinating claim initiation with employees and brokers. ● Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, etc. ● Partner with the HR Operations team to draft, develop and maintain global HR policies and principles and stay informed on changes to local and national laws/statutes that impact company operating procedures. ● Identify opportunities to evolve our people programs and support project management and implementation as we continue to grow in scale both nationally and internationally. ● Provide support to the broader HR Operations team.


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR ● 7+ years of progressive experience in a related field, including Human Resources Management, People Operations, and/or Compliance, with at least 2+ years of people management experience ● 5+ years of experience with HR systems; LOA management systems, Workday, etc. ● Working knowledge of Canada, UK, Germany, and/or Australia statutory requirements for benefits, leaves, and accommodations. ● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate complex business information in a clear and compelling way ● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, collaborate and build effective working relationships with internal partners in a constantly evolving environment ● Previous experience supporting a scaling organization at critical stages of growth and expansion (e.g., M&As, new market entry, etc.) ● Working knowledge of local and national labor laws related to leaves, ADA, wage & hour and other payroll policies ● Proven experience with managing immigration function (H1-B’s, F-1’s, OPT, CPT, O-1’s and PERM processes) ● Self-starter who can build programs from the ground up and transform existing processes to meet the constantly evolving needs of the business ● Able to analyze, interpret and use data insights to help advise ongoing administration of and/or updates to people operations programs ● Very professional and personable, able to build and maintain credibility and trust across all levels of the organization and handle confidential employee matters with appropriate cultural sensitivity ● Known to be an excellent cross-functional partner who can synthesize needs, gain alignment, and drive work forward in a highly collaborative environment
