Responsibilities:

Scientist – in-vitro disease modeling

Genome Sciences department in client is looking for a motivated scientist to lead the identification and validation of new genetic targets for various cardiometabolic diseases including Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), Obesity, Atherosclerosis, Retinal diseases, and vascular diseases. This individual will play a pivotal role as a member of the discovery team, contributing to the development of innovative models for screening drug targets.

Job responsibilities:

• Establish stem cell-based in-vitro disease platforms.

• Design assays using high content imaging techniques to facilitate screening of small molecules and genetic modifications using CRISPR.

• Perform lab experiments, interpret data, and effectively communicate findings.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in therapeutic and functional areas.

• Maintain electronic lab notebook and sample inventories.


Day to Day:

• Muscle work

• Heavy wet lab-based position.

• Culture the cells.

• Work on Assay development.

• Role requires more precision to design experiments, culture cells and assay development.

• Team environment

• Discuss the experimental strategy with other scientists.

• Develop experimental plan (discuss, analyse, and present experimental plans)

• Present the data in a group meeting to other scientists.

• Use ELN


Qualifications:

Education requirements:

• BS with 5+ years of experience/Masters with 3+ years of experience/PHD with 1+ year of experience in a wet lab setting.

• Candidates with a background in muscle biology will be given preference.


Required experience and skills:

• Skilled in cell culturing and differentiation of stem cells into specific lineages.

• Experience with gene manipulation technologies such as CRISPR, siRNA, ASOs, lentivirus, and AAVs.

• Expertise in molecular biology techniques including RNA extraction, qPCR, ELISA/MSD, and ICC.

• Critical thinking with an ability to formulate experimental strategies.

• Effective in working independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.


NOTES * Position is in Cambridge, MA. This is a lab based onsite role.
