Job Summary

The Segel Lab at Harvard University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to explore the evolution of mammalian lifespan and understand the underpinnings of human aging.

Research Focus

The lab is working at the intersection of stem cell, developmental, and evolutionary biology, with a strong emphasis on the aging of the brain. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong research background in embryonic stem cells, iPS cells, embryo manipulation, developmental neuroscience, the biology of aging, next-generation sequencing studies, and biochemistry.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct research in in vitro or animal models of aging.
  2. Publish and present research findings in high-quality scientific journals and conferences.
  3. Regularly communicate findings with colleagues and lab members.
  4. Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and students on interdisciplinary research projects.
  5. Contribute to the preparation of research proposals.
  6. Participate in mentoring activities for undergraduate and graduate students.
  7. Apply for independent funding opportunities when appropriate.

Qualifications

  1. A Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  2. Demonstrated record of research achievement.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Excellent organizational skills.
