Position Summary
Modalis Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, immunology to advance the cutting-edge projects that are key to the company’s clinical goals. This individual will become a key member of our immunology team to work collaboratively on our immunology platform projects and to develop and optimize in-vitro/in-vivo experiments to characterize the immune responses. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work at the leading edge of CRISPR gene therapy and immunology.
Candidates with extensive in-vitro and in-vivo research background in immunology with a keen interest in learning new techniques and/or expanding their experience in immunology and gene therapy are encouraged to apply. The candidate should be scientifically motivated, capable of conducting experiments independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
- You will collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate immune responses using in-vitro and in-vivo disease models.
- Designing and performing immunization/infection experiments in mice
- Performing ELISA to measure antibody responses and inflammatory markers, and ELISPOT for T cell responses
- Isolating immune cell populations and performing multicolor flow cytometry for phenotypic and functional characterization of mouse, NHPs and Human immune cells
- Performing tissue staining and microscopy
- Determining the effects of various immunomodulatory therapeutic molecules on transgene expression and durability
- Reading literature and proposing new ideas and solutions
- Interacting with cross-functional teams and presenting data in small and large group settings
Qualifications
- To be considered for this opportunity, you must have at least a BS/MS with 2-5 years of relevant experience in immunology
- Are able to perform detailed immunology experiments (ELISA, ELISPOT, Flowcytometry etc..) independently and collaboratively
- Are highly organized and have experience maintaining detailed records
- Have a desire to continually take on new challenges, learn new techniques, and expand your skill sets to meet the evolving needs of the group
- You must have extensive in vivo mouse handling experience including infection/immunization, blood sampling, tissue collection, and immune cell isolation

Job Site: Modalis Therapeutics' headquarters is located at 43 Foundry Ave., Waltham, MA 02453 in CenterPoint, a thriving center of innovation for Massachusetts’ biotechnology and biomedical research. The site is easily accessible by public transportation or free shuttle direct from Harvard Sq. The candidate is mostly expected to work in our animal facility located in Cambridge.
